Helped secure two ACU Blue Charter Fellowships and hosted Professor Rajakaruna, Applied Zoology, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka ‘Exploring perceptions of sea turtle hatchery workers and communications to change behaviour regarding plastics waste’ and Dr Dumbili, Lecturer, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria ‘Exploring Media, Recycling and Perceptions of Plastics Waste amongst young adults’. Trained and mentored both colleagues in methods and conceptual frameworks of waste and publics in Sri Lanka and Nigeria. Unilever provided support for Plastic Debris and Marine Fauna: Media Education and Social Change in Coastal Communities. (Association of Tropical Biology and Conservation’s Asia Pacific chapter (ATBC-AP) conference (10 – 13 September 2019). Successfully secured additional follow- on funds for both projects. Funder: Association of Commonwealth Universities £19,500.
