Analysing the links between fuel poverty, energy efficiency and health in Scottish communities

Project: Internally funded project

Project Details

Description

Energy efficiency and the decarbonisation of heat have been identified as key areas to achieve the net zero targets set by the Scottish Government. However, these changes could translate into higher energy prices, putting further economic pressure on households. Also, impacts of fuel poverty are very likely to go beyond the lack of disposable income, potentially affecting health, work productivity, and general wellbeing.
This project aims to investigate links between housing type, energy efficiency ratings, economic status, fuel poverty, and health, with a focus on several diverse areas of Scotland. Generated hypotheses can then be used to inform future policies and as a basis for further research.

£1,200 were awarded from the StrathWide 2020 funding call (inernal funding).
