Project: Internally funded project

Project Details

Description

The AGI Tutoring Programme involves mathematics undergraduate students travelling to Glasgow high schools once a week to tutor pupils in Higher Maths. The pupils were identified by their school as being interested in studying a science degree at university but struggling to achieve their Higher Maths condition. The programme is funded by the Allan Glen's School Club and ran in 2023 with 15 tutors providing tuition to 45 students from three schools. In 2023-24, the programme ran again with 15 tutors offering tuition to 45 pupils from three schools (5 tutors per school tutoring 3 pupils each) from 5 February to 29 March 2024. The Allan Glen's School Club awarded the programme a grant of £3023, providing a bursary of £200 for each tutor and covered travel expenses of £23 for one tutor. (The other tutors were under 22 and had free bus travel.)
