To mark and honor the many outstanding and groundbreaking contributions and their authors in those more than 60 years of pharmacognosy the journal has recorded – Thieme, the publisher of Planta Medica, has decided to award an annual prize to the most innovative paper of the year. The Editorial Board of Planta Medica has awarded the publication “Metabolomics-Guided Isolation of Anti-trypanosomal Metabolites from the Endophytic Fungus Lasiodiplodia theobromae” by Nurkhalida Kamal, Christina V. Viegelmann, Carol J. Clements and RuAngelie Edrada-Ebel as the “most innovative paper” published in Planta Medica in 2017. Planta Medica – Journal of Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research has been at the forefront of innovation, research and development ever since its inception back in 1953. The award handed over during the dinner reception after the Planta Medica Editorial Board Meeting in Florence, Italy (Friday, July 6th 2018). The prize money is € 1.500. the winning article will also gain a "free access status".
