The “legbank” initiative secures a prestigious ASN Bank World Award; for the world of tomorrow. An estimated 30 million low-income amputees worldwide have limited access to qualitative prosthetic care. LegBank is a Partnership between social business developers from ProPortion foundation, researchers from BME Strathclyde University and design engineers from design studio, Reggs. They increase access to qualitative prostheses by introducing the innovative, MajiCast, device in order to create high quality prosthetic sockets in combination with a service model to reach out to rural amputees. A more sustainable and fairer society, that is the ideal vision of the Dutch based ASN Bank. Since the banks inception in 1960, its philosophy is to positively influence the world of tomorrow by stimulating change in the world today. The ASN Bank believes that innovation is society instigated and therefore is organising the ASN Bank world award since 2009. The aim of this prestigious award is to support projects with a very high potential and considerable global impact. Five theme based awards were presented at the end of 2015. The Legbank initiative secured the award for the healthcare and wellbeing theme.
