Founded in 2000 to celebrate the Italian Modernist Carlo Emilio Gadda, the Edinburgh Gadda Prize provides an international platform to recognise scholarly brilliance in Contemporary Italian Studies while also promoting young creative talent.

As part of the 2019 Submission, the Prize received 147 monographs on all aspects of contemporary Italian Culture – with the following breakdown:
