I spent 3 weeks giving lectures and seminars in Italian where appropriate, and worked on my article ‘Beauty Italian Style: Gendered imaginings of and responses to divas in early post-Unification Italian literary culture' for a special issue of the journal Italian Studies in the Valente Collection at Seton Hall University.
I delivered a public lecture at the Italian Studies institute entitled ‘Suffering Opera Heroines and Desiring Divas in Italy’s Late Nineteenth Century’.
