Xintong Wang is a Research Associate in the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. His current research focuses on advanced structural design and integrity analysis of floating offshore wind turbines and hydrogen infrastructures. He is a member of the Work Steam I - Offshore Structures, Logistics and Power Generation under the project Ocean REFuel, which is principally led by Professor Feagal Brennan and funded by the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC).
Dr. Wang holds both a Ph.D. and a M.Sc. in Marine Technology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technolgy (NTNU). He has a strong academic background and extensive research experience in the design and analysis of ships and offshore structures. His publications and theses cover a wide range of topics concerning marine structures under ultimate, accidental, and fatigue limit states.
A representative example of his research is the study Ultimate Strength of Welded Aluminium Stiffened Panels under Combined Loading Conditions, conducted within the KPN Project Robotic Welding for Shipbuilding with Aluminium Hulls, funded by the Research Council of Norway. This work provides a framework for assessing aluminium stiffened panels, potentially extending the applicability of the existing IACS-UR-S35 rule to aluminium ship structures, while also improving rule accuracy for steel structures.
