Projects per year
Vaclav completed a BEng in chemical engineering in 2014 at University of Strathclyde with a year abroad at Virginia Tech in the US. He then worked on a summer research project at CMAC (EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Continuous Manufacturing and Crystallisation) before joining the centre for a 4-year DTC programme with a research project aiming to tackle challenges of continuous crystallization and nucleation at low throughput.
The theme of the project at CMAC is scale down of modular test beds for continuous crystallization processes. Implementing the benefits of continuous manufacturing towards niche products and at early stages of drug development, this project addresses challenges in mixing and fouling. Alongside this, Vaclav is working on continuous processes for crystallization of multicomponent systems such as co-crystals and solid solutions. He is also involved in multiple collaborative projects with ICT CMAC looking at monitoring crystal breakage and hyperspectral imaging.
