Personal Statement
Tunde is a biologist, specialising in forensic genetics, molecular biology and biotechnology (2005 - integrated Master's Degree , University of Szeged). She obtained her PhD in Forensic genetics and genomics from the University of Leicester, Alec Jeffreys Forensic Genomics Unit, (2020) working on next-generation sequencing and data analysis of various types of forensic markers. Her interests are Y-STRs, mtDNA and SNPs for FIGG, and any and all sequencing platforms, and forensic sequencing data types.
With over twenty years of experience in laboratory research, casework, novel technologies and data analysis solutions, including project management and administration, Tunde joined Strathclyde to apply these areas of expertise under 'knowledge exchange' to benefit the undergraduate and graduate research students and professionals in the forensic or adjacent fields, by transferring practical laboratory knowledge, data analysis skills or a general understanding of the quickly developing novel technologies affecting forensic casework worldwide.
She is developing and delivering continuing professional development courses, short courses, trainings, symposia and workshops, and offer consultancy to those looking to learn or collaborate, she provides training and supervision on technical laboratory skills on new laboratory technologies at all levels.
At the Centre for Forensic Science, Tunde is the custodian of the MiSeq FGx next-generation sequencer and the MinION nanopore sequencing device. For research or casework collaboration please reach out at [email protected] to discuss options.
