Personal Statement

Professor Dr Thomas Höppner is a visiting professor for Telecoms Law for the LLM in Internet Law and Policy. He is a professor of civil law at Technical University Wildau, Germany, and a partner at the international law firm Hausfeld. Thomas specialises in competition law, economic regulation and intellectual property. He has special expertise in internet-related competition issues. Having graduated in 2003 he received his PhD (summa cum laude) from Humboldt-University Berlin in 2008 for a thesis on the regulation of access to networks. He also holds an LLM in Competition Law from University of Dundee (2004). The legal directory Legal 500 praises his “great expertise in the area of digital economy”. Recent publications include articles on the internet of things (CTLR 2015), multi-sided markets (World Competition 2015) and search engines (CLR Int. 2013).
