Personal profile

Personal Statement

I am an educator, researcher, and advisor with over 15 years of experience teaching, conducting research, and consulting across various industries.

She earned her doctoral degree from Politecnico di Milano in Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering in 2016 under the European Doctorate in Industrial Management (EDIM) programme. In 2006, she was awarded the Prime Minister Gold Medal for her Bachelor of Science in Industrial Production Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. Later, she pursued her Masters's degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the National University of Singapore

Besides Bangladesh, she has pursued studies and professional opportunities in Singapore, Sweden, Italy, Denmark, Finland, and Scotland. At Aarhus University, she received 1.3 million Danish Kronor from Aarhus Universitets Forskningsfond (AUFF) for her research project entitled “Defining and Measuring Supply Chain Competitiveness in Danish Multinational Corporations”. She has also been awarded 70,000 DKK for developing digital materials for a massive open online course (MOOC) on supply chain management.

She has worked on multiple European Horizon 2020 projects and led the development of the MOOC titled "Health Emergency Response in Pandemics," which is now live on the Future Learn Platform. In 2023, she received 7500 GBP for her research on Gender Mainstreaming in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, United Kingdom. You can listen to the podcast series on gender mainstreaming here: Episode 1 I Episode 2 I Episode 3 I Episode 4 I Episode 5. She has published in multiple peer-reviewed and high ranked international journals.

Research Interests

Over the years, my research focus and I have evolved a lot. I am trained as an Industrial, production, and system engineer from top technical universities in Bangladesh (2005) and Singapore (2008). As a result, I have a quantitative and analytical background with a strong foothold in multicriteria decision-making models, mathematical modelling, and simulation. However, during my PhD studies (2012-2016), I became familiar with qualitative studies and research methods such as case studies, action research, and collaborative management research. Because I am well-trained in both qualitative and quantitative methods (2021- present), I am comfortable designing mixed-method research.

Following are a few topics I am currently doing research on:

  1. Supply Chain Competitiveness
  2. Sustainability, Decarbonisation of Supply Chains, and Circular Economy
  3. Purchasing in Multinational Corporations (MNCs)
  4. Risk Management
  5. Humanitarian Logistics
  6. Frugal Innovation
  7. Industry 4.0
