Personal profile
Personal Statement
I am a triple graduate of the Law School - LLB (Hons) (First Class), LLM (Distinction) and Diploma in Legal Practice.
A qualified solicitor, I previously worked in private practice for two of Scotland's largest firms, and as inhouse counsel for two of the UK's largest companies.
My teaching workload at Strathclyde covers a range of subject matters. I teach and coordinate classes on the undergraduate LLB, postgraduate Diploma and postgraduate Masters programmes. I co-direct our Diploma.
I have scholarship and knowledge exchange interests that align with my professional experience as a solicitor - including dispute resolution (particularly mediation) and sport.
I have a professional and personal interest in widening access to legal education and the legal profession. Together with Dr Chris McCorkindale I am involved in an ongoing research project regarding the academic performance, and professional outcomes, of those admitted to study Law from widening access routes.
Outside of the university I am a director of a semi-professional football club, and a director of a community sports facility. Combining this interest with legal study I launched what is now a very successful elective module in Sports Law.
