Personal profile

Personal Statement

  • Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
  • And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings

I am currently a Strathclyde Chancellor’s Fellow and holding a Lecturer position at the Aerospace Centre of Excellence in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering. I start my academic career on uncertainty and reliability analysis in Aerospace Engineering since 2015 in the Femto-ST Institute, Besancon, France, as a post-doctoral researcher of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). I was then granted the Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship in 2017 and hence moved to the Leibniz University Hanover, where I dedicated myself to the work on novel Uncertainty Quantification metrics and Stochastic Model Updating algorithms. I obtained my doctoral degree in aircraft design from the Beihang University (formerly known as the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics) in 2015.

My research topics are uncertainty quantification, stochastic model updating, numerical verification and validation, especially in the application of complex aerospace engineering dynamics. In particular, I focus on probabilistic techniques such as advanced Monte Carlo simulation, approximate Bayesian computation, and reliability-/risk-based optimisation. My work also covers structural dynamics and vibroacoustics in the fields of experimental modal analysis, noise/vibration control, and system identification, of course, with the consideration of uncertainties.

For academic services, I sit at the AIAA Technical Committee of Non-Deterministic Approaches. I am serving as the Associate Editor of three international journals: the ASCE-ASME Journal of Risk and Uncertainty in Engineering Systems, Part A Civil Engineering, and Part B Mechanical Systems, and the ASME Open Journal of Engineering.
