Personal profile

Personal Statement

Dr. Jaffri has broad interests in the synthesis of the energy materials for electrochemical and photovoltaic systems. As Ph.D researcher at Fatima Jinnah Women University, Pakistan and Queen Mary University of London, United Kingdom, she undertook the project of preparation of the energy efficient materials i.e. all- inorganic perovskites, metal oxides, and metal oxide nano-composites for energy applications. In terms of energy applications, she has used the prepared materials for electro-catalysis (OER / HER activity) (DOI: 10.1016/j.est.2023.107566; 10.1016/j.mtsust.2024.100673), energy storage in terms of supercapacitors and batteries (DOI: 10.1016/j.ijhydene.2023.04.085; 10.1016/j.mtchem.2023.101828) in addition to the utilization of these materials in entirely ambient perovskite solar cells (DOI: 10.1016/j.seta.2023.103566; 10.1016/j.solener.2023.112164). By using lanthanide dopants, she succeeded in improving the stability of these materials.

In her present role as a Post-doctoral Research Associate at the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, in an EPSRC-funded project, she is investigating electrochemical energy storage using a novel thermally regenerative electrochemical cycle (TREC). She has been working towards the development of the sustainable battery materials by development of the cost-effective, anti-corrosive, and non-toxic redox couples.
