Personal Statement

I'm a PhD candidate at the University of Strathclyde (UK), where I study the epistemology of foreign policymaking, looking at the question "Can there be such a thing as 'evidence-informed foreign policy'? What would this look like?" To explore this, I plan to draw on literature sources across academic and non-academic disciplines and schools of thought, study existing evidence-use practices in foreign policy recommendations (using document analysis methods), and engage with foreign policy practitioners to elicit their insights and reflections on the topic.

In previous projects, I have worked on issues related to China Studies, Nuclear Policy, Disaster Risk Management, Conflict Analysis, Social Movement Studies, and the Governance of Emerging Technologies, all of which remain topics I'm intrigued by and pay attention to. I am also keenly interested in Political/Democractic Theory, and Social Science Epistemology & Methodology, and engage in discussions and working groups on these topics whenever I get the chance.
