Personal profile

Personal Statement

I joined the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry in January 2018 and specialise in teaching organic chemistry at 1st and 2nd year level, having completed a PhD in Pd(II) catalysis at Heriot-Watt University and post-doctoral research in organic synthesis and polymer chemistry at the University of Edinburgh. 

Prior to my career in academia, I worked in the not-for-profit sector and also in industry. 

Teaching Interests

My current teaching responsibilities include fundamental organic chemistry and spectroscopy.

I am interested in introducing innovative teaching methods, in order to improve the student learning experience in organic chemistry lectures.

Industrial Relevance

I am Chair of SCI (Society of Chemical Industry) Scotland Regional Group and have an interest in fostering links between academia and industry and also increasing students' employability skills.

Additionally, I am the Operations Lead of the Department Industrial Placement Team, assisting MChem students with obtaining an industrial placement during their 4th yera of study.
