Personal Statement

Rona Michie is a Senior Research Fellow in the European Policies Research Centre. She has an honours degree in economics from the University of Strathclyde. Her main expertise is in the comparative analysis of the implementation of Cohesion policy, for which she plays a key role in EPRC’s IQ-Net Consortium.

She has contributed to a wide range of research projects, including research on: the experience of Cohesion policy programmes with State aid regulations; the analysis of innovative types of business aids in selected European regions; the analysis of the impact of Structural Fund programmes; and innovation initiatives in peripheral areas, and she has published articles on EU regional policies and the Structural Funds.

Her current main area of interest is in financial instruments. In this context she has recently been part of a consortium undertaking work for the EIB and has recently completed a study on financial instruments for the European Parliament.
