Personal Statement

Rona Michie is a Knowledge Exchange and Research Fellow at EPRC Delft and EPRC Glasgow. She is currently leading EPRC’s contribution to the Horizon 2020 TRACER project which supports nine target regions across Europe in their transition out of coal and into sustainable energy systems. She also plays a key role in the NICE network (Net Zero Industrial Cluster Exchange), which aims to share knowledge on the transformation of industrial clusters and sites. Another main area of interest is in financial instruments, specifically those funded under EU Cohesion Policy. She has contributed to the EIB’s fi-compass platform of technical assistance to Structural Funds managing authorities in the field of financial instruments. In addition, she has expertise in the comparative analysis of the implementation of Cohesion policy over several decades, and has contributed to a wide range of research projects, including research on: the experience of Cohesion policy programmes with State aid regulations; the analysis of innovative types of business aids in selected European regions; the analysis of the impact of Structural Fund programmes; and innovation initiatives in peripheral areas. She was Managing Editor of the European Structural and Investment Funds journal, a quarterly journal aimed at practitioners and policymakers, from 2013-2019.
