Personal Statement
Having joined the University of Strathclyde's Postgraduate programme in Genealogical, Heraldic and Palaeographic Studies as a Teaching Fellow in December 2022, Rhiannon initially joined as a Tutor in September 2020.
Alongside her role within the recently created SIGS (Strathclyde Institute for Genealogical Studies), Rhiannon successfully runs her own business as a professional genealogist. She is a member of the RQG (Register of Qualified Genealogists). Whilst also being a member of local family history societies, she is also a member of the BALH (British Association for Local History) and GOONS (Guild of One Name Studies) where she runs the ROWSELL ONS.
Rhiannon has a particular interest in Medieval genealogy (she is a member of the Foundation for Medieval Genealogy) and has presented a talk based upon her MSc Dissertation to various organisations in recent years. This was focused upon Inquisitions Post Mortem and the presence of women in these for the county of Somerset (1485-1500).
Before studying in genealogy, Rhiannon studied Music at Cardiff University and gained both her BMus and MA there (with a focus on Music Performance).
