Personal Statement
Paulo Hisao Moriya got his B.Sc. (2009), M.Sc. (2012) and Ph.D. (2016) in Physics from University of São Paulo (Brazil). Since 2016, he is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Institute of Photonics, University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK), funded by the UK National Quantum Technologies Hub for Sensors and Timing, researching and developing high performance, ultra-coherent laser systems based in VECSEL (Vertical-External-Cavity Surface-Emitting-Laser) technology for quantum technologies, such as optical clocks and atom interferometers.
His expertise lies in experimental atomic and molecular physics, cold atoms and laser physics, especially for the development of quantum technologies. His research interests are laser physics, laser frequency stabilization, narrow linewidth lasers, photonics, cold atoms, and quantum sensors and technologies.
Expertise related to UN Sustainable Development Goals
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
