Personal Statement

My research explores changes in the fertility patterns of women living in Dublin during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

Focusing on Dublin City, my research links census data, civil registration records, and a range of other archival sources to build complete fertility histories for women married between 1880 and 1911. This longitudinal study moves beyond the limitations of census-driven studies to provide a granular, bottom-up exploration of women’s family life. Prof Laura Kelly and Dr Calista Williams supervise my research.

Prior to my studies with the University of Strathclyde, I completed a BSc in Information Technology at Dublin City University, and an MA in the History of the Family at the University of Limerick, Ireland.
