Personal Statement

Paranjayee’s fields of expertise include PVD coatings, Tribology in coating and metal forming, Microstructural evolution of titanium alloys, Ni-based super alloys and different steel grades (including nuclear grade steel) undergone different bulk forming processes, and advanced material characterisation techniques. She has extensive experience in development and performance evaluation of both hard and soft protective and tribological PVD coatings using different pulsed magnetron sputtering systems (such as UBMS, HIPIMS and combined UBMS-HIPIMS). Her skills include design of compound targets such as Mo-WC, coating process optimisation and detail microstructural, mechanical and tribological characterisation. Apart from experience in tribology and surface engineering, her research work focuses on the evolution of microstructure, crystallographic texture and mechanical properties of aerospace alloys experiencing bulk metal forming processes (such as super-plastic forming, rotary forging, shear forming and flow forming) and high-frequency welding. She is also an expert user of a number of advanced material characterisation techniques such as SEM-EDX, WDX, EBSD, TEM, XRD, Raman spectroscopy, Secondary neutral mass spectroscopy (SNMS), nano-indentation and atomic force microscopy (AFM), room-temp, high-temp and vacuum tribological tests, contact and non-contact surface profilometry, micro-hardness and scratch-adhesion tests, thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA), mechanical tests such as tensile and compression tests, Charpy V-notch test, rotary bending fatigue test and fracture toughness test etc.
