Personal Statement

Nikos obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of Strathclyde (2013). Previous to this, he studied in the University of Piraeus from which he received a BSc in Industrial Management and Technology (2003) and an MBA in Total Quality Management (2006). In 2015 Nikos became Fellow of The Higher Education Academy.

Teaching Interests


Nikos is the Director of Learning and Teaching in the Department of Economics, overseeing the Economics studies programme. He is also the Director of the Management Development Programme (MDP). MDP is a programme which is made up of core classes for all Strathclyde Business School undergraduate students and which aims to enhance their employability by providing them with a range of soft skills, with enhanced business awareness, with critical thinking capability and with decision making skills.

Nikos is the lecturer in charge of the classes “Intermediate Microeconomics”, “Natural Resource, Environmental and Energy Economics” and "Economics and Finance".


Nikos is the Director of the MSc in Global Energy Management course, which is a course aiming to train future energy managers in understanding global energy issues, covering the economics, policy and managerial dimensions of energy.

Nikos is the lecturer in charge of the MSc classes "Global Energy Technologies, Impacts and Implementation", "Global Energy Forum" and "Fundamentals of Microeconomics", and of the MBA class "Fundamentals of Business Economics". He also teaches in the MSc class "Global Energy Issues, Industries and Markets".



Nikos supervises Economics honours year dissertations, MSc dissertations, MSc summer projects, MBA projects and PGR studies in a number of topic areas.
