Personal Statement

Muhammad Hijaaj, R &D Engineer in PNDC, is working on state-of-the-art research and development in the area of Future Network Assets to support the power distribution industry in meeting their ambitious decarbonisation goals and maximising the utilisation of their asset base, while maintaining supply resilience to customers. His research focus on the condition monitoring of AC and DC assets as well as testing new monitoring and control solutions for AC and DC distribution networks. His work involves development of testing methods and experimental rigs to enable the University in evaluating these new solutions as well as new ways of operating the distribution networks using AC and DC topologies, with the aim to facilitate their adoption by UK DNOs as part of business as usual. As a team member of the PNDC, Muhammad works closely with UK DNOs, who are partners of the centre to accelerate the impact of the R&D work.
