Personal profile

Personal Statement

I am a PhD student specializing in Education, focusing on Sufi Mentorship Models and their implications for educator-student relations. My academic journey has been shaped by a deep interest in educational philosophy. After serving as a Lecturer at a university in Bangladesh for four years, I shifted my focus from applied linguistics to the philosophy of education. This transition led me to pursue an MSc in Education Studies at the University of Strathclyde, where I developed a keen interest in the intersection of education and spirituality. My master’s thesis, which explored Nirvana and Education, further ignited my passion for integrating religious and spiritual concepts into educational frameworks. Following the completion of my MSc, I embarked on a PhD in Education. As an educator, researcher, and lifelong learner, I want to explore the underexplored intersections of religious philosophies and education, aiming to contribute to a deeper understanding of these connections.

Research Interests

My research interests include:

  1. Philosophy of Education: Examining the foundational theories and principles that shape educational practices and policies.
  2. Religion, Spirituality, and Education: Investigating how religious and spiritual dimensions influence and enrich the educational experience.
  3. Comparative Religious Education: Analyzing how various religious traditions approach education and their impact on educational systems and curricula.
  4. Educational Philosophy and Practice: Exploring how philosophical concepts can be applied to address practical challenges in education.
  5. Mysticism and Education: Studying the role of mystical traditions and experiences in shaping educational practices and personal development. Additionally, I have a strong interest in researching the Bangladeshi mystic poet Fakir Lalon Shah and his impact on these themes.
