I am a Teaching Fellow in Civil Engineering with 28 years experience in geotechnics, and a Chartered Civil Engineer. I am a very experienced teacher of engineering mechanics, materials, soil mechanics and the design of geotechnical structures, and make extensive use of online interactive learning techniques for formative and summative assessment. I am also very experienced in leading, developing and managing undergraduate teaching programmes in Civil Engineering, including curriculum review and enhancement. I have held a number of senior administrative and management positions including Undergraduate Course Director and Director of Recruitment. I have been involved in teaching development initiatives including SHEFC and SRIF funded programmes, and the Entice project. As part of my commitment to scholarship and professional development, I maintain interests in research which cover foundation engineering, reinforced and stabilised soils, and the use of recycled and marginal materials.
