Personal Statement

Mel has a range of research and teaching experience in Contract, Commercial, Consumer and EU law and has particular interests in issues of Corporate Governance, Corporate Finance, Private law in general and Comparative law. In Strathclyde Mel leads on the Law of Business Associations and co-directs the postgraduate Construction law programme. He is a member of the Strathclyde Centre for Antitrust Law and Empirical Study (SCALES).

Mel has been Marie Curie Fellow in both Bremen (2005-7, Europeanisation and Suretyships' Law) and Durham/Leeds (2008-11, Europeanisation of Consumer Protection and Private law). He was, previously, SNF Fellow in Lucerne (2001-5) and, subsequently, Schumann Fellow in Muenster (2018). In the UK he has also held posts in Leicester (2010-12). De Montfort (2012-14) and Exeter (2014-16).

Mel is an External Examiner at the University of London (QMUL).
