Personal profile
Personal Statement
My goal is to complete my doctorate so that I can support future teachers, conduct research within the classroom, and make a contribution to the improvement of secondary school education, in particular Business Education.
I started my teaching career in South Lanarkshire Council, where I taught Business Education at Larkhall Academy before moving to Glasgow City Council and further becoming Acting Faculty Head of Business and Computing Science, Principal Teacher of Raising Attainment and then Leader of Professional Learning for staff.
I attended Central college of Commerce where I completed an HND in Tourism. During this time I was elected for two terms as Student President of the college’s Student Association and was a member of the college’s Board of Management. I also was on the Steering Committee of National Union of Students Scotland.
I have worked with Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education, where I represented student voice and student participation whilst inspecting a wide range of colleges in Scotland.
I returned to education, after a period of employment in the private sector to complete my BA Honours in Business Studies at The University of the West of Scotland. I then went on to complete my PGDE in secondary Education at Glasgow University.
Whilst working in secondary education, I completed my MEd in Education at Glasgow University.
I am currently Vice President of Scottish Business Education Association (SBEA)
I am especially interested in pupil equity, quality assurance methods and effective learning and teaching.
