I'm an applied theorist with research interests at the intersection of
1) behavioural economics,
2) the microeconomics of the employment relationship, and
3) the macroeconomic theory of wages and unemployment.
My research agenda currently evolves around the themes of workers’ morale and effort provision, fairness, reciprocity, pay inequality, wage setting, wage dynamics, unemployment and labour market fluctuations.
I pursue my research through theory and mathematical modelling. In my most recent projects I also employ experimental (laboratory) and quantitative (calibration and simulation) methods.

Research Interests
I'm an applied theorist with research interests at the intersection of behavioural economics, the microeconomics of the employment relationship, and the macroeconomic theory of wages and unemployment.
My research agenda currently evolves around the themes of workers’ morale and effort provision, fairness, reciprocity, pay inequality, wage setting, wage dynamics, unemployment and labour market fluctuations.
My approach consists in drawing from psychology and sociology to gain a deeper understanding of the economic and behavioural principles underlying the labour contract, to inform the modelling of workers’ and firms’ decisions, and to analyse their macroeconomic implications for the cyclical behaviour of wages and unemployment.
I pursue my research through theory and mathematical modelling. In my most recent projects I also employ experimental (laboratory) and quantitative (calibration and simulation) methods.
I am also generally open and curious towards multidisciplinary approaches to other fields of economics, especially when these engage with novel insights from psychology and sociology
I have expertise in:
1) Macroeconomic Theory;
2) Behavioural Economics (theory and experiments);
mainly within the areas of:
3) Labour Markets, Wages and Unemployment.
4) Reference-dependent preferences, Loss aversion, Reciprocity.
I am happy to supervise suitably qualified PhD students in these areas; please get in touch if you want to discuss a potential research project.
