Personal Statement

Dr. Addison is a highly qualified hydrogeologist with 5 years of professional experience in Scotland and Malawi. He completed his Ph.D. (Hydrogeology) in 2021 at the University of Strathclyde, department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He successfully developed the first comprehensive national fluoride risk map for Malawi, pulling together structural and mineralogical data, hydrogeological data, water quality data, and human health data to assign a fluoride risk factor to every groundwater supply in the country.

Dr. Addison's research was funded by the Scottish Government: Climate Justice Fund, Water Futures Programme, which was set up to assist Malawi achieve the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6): "Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all".

Dr. Addison additionally holds a B.Sc. in Earth Science from the University of Glasgow, and an M.Sc. In Hydrogeology from the University of Strathclyde.
