Personal Statement

Dr. Maider Olasolo is currently working at the Advanced Materials Research Laboratory as Experimental Officer.

Maider’s areas of expertise include the effect of rolling deformation and posterior heat-treatment on the final microstructure, the relationship between the microstructure and mechanical properties, phase transformation (during continuous cooling and isothermal transformation), precipitation hardening and work hardening on metallic materials.

She is skilled in advanced techniques of microstructural characterisation (such as, optical microscopy, SEM, EDS, WDS, EBSD, TEM and X-ray diffraction), chemical analysis (Spark-OES and GD-OES), thermomechanical testing (torsion, quenching & deformation dilatometer), mechanical testing (microhardness, tensile tests and impact tests at low temperatures) and measurements of thermal properties (Laser Flash Analyser, Push-rod Dilatometry, Simultaneous Thermal Analyser (DSC and TGA).
