I received my Bachelor (2003), Master (2006) and PhD Degree (2010) in Physics from Insubria University (Como, Italy). There, I theoretically investigated the spatiotemporal structure of entanglement in second-order nonlinear media (multimode, high-gain regime), in the group led by Professor Luigi Lugiato and Dr Alessandra Gatti.
From April 2011 to May 2014 I have been a postdoctoral fellow at INRS-EMT (Varennes, Canada) in the group led by Prof. Roberto Morandotti, where I mainly worked on nonlinear and quantum integrated optics, focusing on the generation of multimode and multiphoton entanglement, as well as on the generation and detection of THz radiation.
From July 2014 to Jan 2017 I was a Marie Curie Fellow at Heriot-Watt University (Edinburgh) with Prof. Daniele Faccio, performing research on the generation of entangled photon triplets, 2D-materials nonlinearity and enhanced nonlinearity in low-permittivity media.
In February 2017 I joined the Institute of Photonics at Strathclyde University, jointly with the Fraunhofer Centre for Applied Photonics, first as a research fellow in the group led by Dr Jennifer Hastie, in the framework of the Birmingham Quantum Hub on Sensors and Metrology.
Since June 2018 I am a Chancellor’s Fellow in the same institute, and I am developing my independent research group, QuaSAp (Quantum Sources and Applications), devoted to the development of compact sources of quantum states of light for quantum metrology, computing and communication.
