Personal profile

Personal Statement

I graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Forensic Science from the University of Abertay, Dundee in 2013, after which, I moved down to England to pursue a career in Forensic Science in the private sector. I worked for one of the largest Forensic Service Providers in the UK for several years, mainly in the areas of blood and biological trace evidence, gaining invaluable experience working in a forensic casework laboratory.

As a Forensic Examiner, I received blood pattern analysis training that allows me to interpret blood stain patterns on a range of different evidence types to help determine what has happened in a case. This allowed me the opportunity to work on a number of high profile cases, providing results of high evidential value from the examinations I carried out.

Working as a Teaching Associate here at Strathclyde, my main areas of teaching include crime scene investigation and management, blood pattern analysis and biological trace evidence. However, i also supervise MSc research projects on other areas such as fingerprints, forensic palynology, and footwear marks.

My other research interests include pedagogy in forensic science education, technology enhanced learning and student engagement in higher education, with a focus on developing and creating innovative teaching practice to enhance student experience.
