Personal profile

Personal Statement

I am an experienced researcher with interests spanning many aspects of energy generation and consumption – economics, policy and the environment, economic diversification, energy productivity, and economic growth. I also have a professional energy-sector experience in business development and consulting for renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainability. In addition, I am an active member of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Joint Task Force on Energy Efficiency Standards in Buildings and Technical Committee for Group of Experts on Energy Efficiency. I have published articles in peer reviewed academic journals, and presented my work at several international forums. I am particularly keen to develop insightful and forward-thinking energy sector analysis and policy to optimize economic and social well-being.

Currently I am working as Research Fellow at the Centre for Energy Policy (CEP) while pursuing my doctoral studies in Politics within the School of Government & Public Policy.  My doctorate research focusses on understanding the politics of energy policy specifically looking at energy decarbonisation policy and its implication on socio-economic well-being. This study will analyse the evolution and formulation of decarbonisation policy across countries and track the series of decisions (past, present, and future) undertaken to achieve the objectives of decarbonisation policy - such as reducing energy consumption through energy efficiency and lowering carbon emissions from industries - resulting in improved economic and social well-being. The analysis will include an assessment of the degree of coherence between political decisions, policy implementation, and instrumentality to achieve the purpose.

I am currently leading two projects for the CEP. I am the author and lead researcher for the second edition of the World Green Economy Report, highlighting green job opportunities and relevant financial instruments to mobilize green finance. My second assignment is with Scottish Power and Energy Network (SPEN), I am authoring an independent report on behalf of SPEN’s Customer Engagement Group for Ofgem’s RIIO-ED2-price control period.
