Personal profile

Personal Statement

With over a decade of experience as a medical historian, educator, and curator, I am dedicated to exploring the intricate relationships between medical history and modern healthcare practices. My academic path, highlighted by my doctoral research at the University of Leeds, has focused on the history of partial knee replacement surgery and its integration with global arthroplasty registries. This work has illuminated the essential role of historical analysis in shaping current medical approaches.

Beyond academia, my contributions to the field extend through editorial work, translation projects, and detailed archival research. Being fluent in Estonian, English, and German, I have engaged in valuable dialogues across cultural and linguistic barriers, enhancing a global understanding of medical history.

I am passionately committed to developing cross-cultural perspectives and interdisciplinary methods to examine the connections between medicine, society, and technology. Whether analyzing historical medical instruments or considering the ethical impacts of new medical technologies, my work is driven by a relentless curiosity about the complexities of medical history and its ongoing significance.
