Personal profile

Personal Statement

I first joined the university as Co-ordinator of the Centre for Residential Child Care in 1998. Since then I have been employed as consultancy manager in the Scottish Institute of Residential Child Care  and more recently as the consultancy lead in the Centre for Excellence for Looked After Children in Scotland. In my role I have offered consultancy to a range of organisations, teams and individuals involved in providing care for looked after children both in Scotland and the rest of the UK. I also provide training to managers and practitioners on attachment, trauma, resilience, mental heath and self-harm. Throughout my career I have had a passion for developing excellent residential child care and have striven to support this whether as practitioner, manager, trainer or consultant. I am currently involved in research on the longterm outcomes of residential care and I am also undertaking a PhD on the suicides of care leavers.
