Personal Statement

Brazilian Labour Judge since 1995, with Brazilian and Italian citizenship. Bachelor of Law from University Mackenzie (Sao Paulo, 1991), Master of Law from the University of Lisbon (Portugal, 2004) and PhD Researcher in Law at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, Scotland, ongoing). Occupied several institutional positions in the Judiciary and Judges organisations in Brazil: Vice-President of the Ibero-American Judges Union (UIJ - 2018-2020), Vice-Director of the Judicial School of Tribunal (TRT/SC - 2016-2017), Member of the Brazilian Judicial Council (CNJ - 2011-2013), Vice-President of the Brazilian Judges Association (AMB - 2008-2010), President of the Sao Paulo Labour Judges Association (AMATRA/SP - 2004-2006), among others. Delivered many lectures and organised numerous events, seminars and congresses in Brazil and abroad. Published some articles and chapters about Law and Judiciary, and co-organized a book about the Brazilian Labour Reform (2018). From a humble family, was born in Sao Paulo (1966) and grew up in a small city near the capital of the State (Vargem Grande Paulista) where started to work at the age of eight years old. Believes that love and humour are essential for life. 

Research Interests

Researches about Arbitration and its application for resolve employment or labour disputes in Scotland and Brazil (a comparative analysis), especially the problem of fairness and impartiality that may affect the employment arbitration. In this context, is there a specific role for Trade Unions in this area?

Therefore, the employment conflict and all forms of to solve them (Judiciary or ADR, Alternative (or Appropriate) Dispute Resolution), are subjects to be studied.
