Personal profile

Personal Statement

My primary focus is in numerical assessments of the performance of the built environment and environmental control systems. I have been active in this field for 25 years and manage approximately one million lines of source code (e.g. ESP-r).

I have a continuing interest in how engineering software is used in the building design process and I actively mentor companies in the UK and elsewhere.  I am also a certified instructor for PassivHaus designers and practitioners and have trained more than 200 practitioners and given presentations in Europe and Asia.

I have acted as a reviewer for several international journals and this year was made a Fellow of IBPSA (International Building Performance Simulation Association).  I have been in the authoring team of several CIBSE application manuals.  When not developing source code for ESP-r I am often found coaxing 3D objects from local Maker facilties.
