Personal Statement

Patrick is a qualified Social Worker and Social Work academic. His practice focused on Children and Families and was gained, over some sixteen years,  in Residential Child Care, Secure Care and Field Work at both main grade and management levels. Patrick returned to practice in 2018 and 2019 to update his Social Work knowledge and skills and undertook work in a Children and Families intake team and a long term Children and Families team.

Patrick became a Lecturer in Social Work at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, in 2003 and later became Course Lead and Senior Lecturer in Social Work. He contributed to undergraduate and post-graduate qualifying degrees and was Course Lead for the BA(Hons) Social Work ( RCC) and BA Social Pedagogy.  

During that time Patrick was active in research with a focus on Inter Professional Education. His research and project work involved links with Japan, the Middle East and the USA. 

Patrick joined the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, in 2019, bringing with him a track record in Higher Education and Social Work practice and now contributes to the BA(Hons) Education and Social Services as well as the undergraduate and post-graduate qualifying courses.
