Personal profile

Personal Statement

Currently enrolled in a PhD in Earthquake Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, I am working on developing the concept of Value of Information (VoI) to assess the worthiness of data collection in Seismic Hazard Assessment (SHA) with a focus on site characterisation for soil-response analysis. Current research outputs would benefit SHA analysts, facilities owners and insurance companies in quantifying the value of uncertainties reduction through data collection. We believe that VoI could be a key tool in the process of the decision-making post gap-analysis to justify and prioritise the collection of data. My supervisors are John Douglas and Jennifer Roberts.

After a diploma in Engineering Geophysics in Ecole et Observatoire des Sciences de la Terre in France, I pursued an MSc in Geohazards focusing on seismology and earthquake engineering at the University of Grenoble, France. I have gained fundamental skills through theoritical and practical learning about geophysical prospections (theory, acquisition, analysis, interpretation, modelisation), programming (Matlab, Python etc.), Seismic hazard assessment etc.

Research Interests

As a geophysical engineer, my research interests were mainly focused towards seismology and earthquake engineering. Since 2017, I have been interested in site characterisation, soil-response analysis and seismic hazard assessment (SHA). My work and experiences have been mainly oriented towards uncertainties propagation and the value of its reduction. My current research through this PhD is an incredible opportunity to contribute to the assessment of the benefits of data collection and uncertainties reduction in SHA.
