Research interests are modular and hybrid multilevel converters (circuit topologies, modulation and control strategies, modelling), high-voltage dc transmssion (HVDC) systems (modelling, control and fault ride-through strategies), flexible ac transmssion system (FACTS) devices, grid integration of renewable powers, and power system dynamics.
I joined the Institute of Energy and Environment, University of Strathclyde as a research associate in 2008. My areas of expertise cover power electronics devices and systems, power systems analysis and dynamics and electrical machines modelling and dynamics. I have been a lead research scientist in R&D projects with Alstom Grid and Mitsubishi Electric, where I developed complex models and control strategies for HVDC systems. Moreover, I have led delivery of several tasks and subtasks in two EU funded projects, namely, TWENTIES (FP7) and H2020 PROMOTION, and other projects funded by the UK Research Council such as the Converter Theme of the UK Power Electronic Centre. As an expert in power electronics systems, I have acted a reviewer for several IEEE and IET Transactions and journals and conferences, and I am a full member of IEEE and IEEE Power Electronics Society.
