Research Interests
My research interests focus on social work education. This includes students’ ability to convey critical thinking in their written work, the way race issues are understood by students, use of assessment tools and the effective delivery of feedback.
Personal Statement
Gavin Heron qualified as a social worker in 1992. He worked in residential child care and became an accredited practice teacher in 1996. After completing a PhD in 2000 Gavin became a lecturer with the University Of Strathclyde. He teaches mainly on the undergraduate and postgraduate social work qualifying courses. He is also the Postgraduate Research Coordinator for the School of Social Work and Social Policy.

Personal Statement
My teaching on the social work qualifying courses includes: poverty and deprivation; theory and practice and lifelong learning. I also have a tutoring role in supporting students on practice placements and supervise students undertaking undergraduate and postgradure dissertations.
