Personal Statement

My name is Gary Uzonyi.  I earned my PhD from the University of Michigan’s Department of Political Science in 2013.  In 2024, I moved from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville to the University of Strathclyde, where I am now a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in the Department of Government & Public Policy. I am also the President of the American Political Science Association's Human Rights Section.
 
My research considers how uncertainty influences domestic and international political violence. It also focuses on how the international community responds to this violence. You can find my research in outlets such as Comparative Political Studies, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Political Studies, Journal of Peace Research, and International Studies Quarterly, among others.
