Personal Statement

My name is Fangting Cao and I am currently a PhD student in Education at the University of Strathclyde. As a student representative for the HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences) College in the academic year 2022-2023, I have actively contributed to improving the student experience and representing the interests of my fellow students.

Aside from my academic pursuits, I enjoy pursuing creative hobbies such as journaling and playing music. These activities allow me to unwind and stimulate my creativity, which I find essential in maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

I also have a strong passion for charitable activities, and I have previously volunteered at local organizations, including a charity shop and monthly donating to Save The Children. These experiences have allowed me to develop a greater appreciation for the value of community engagement and social responsibility, which I believe are essential qualities for a well-rounded individual.

Overall, my diverse range of interests and experiences have shaped my character and outlook on life. As an aspiring educator, I strive to embody these values and inspire my students to pursue their passions while giving back to their communities.

Research Interests

My interest in education began in 2014, having volunteered in rural areas and personally sponsored students in this area. My research topic centres around English education in rural areas in China, which is something I am deeply passionate about. Following my volunteer work, I decided to pursue professional education in this field. I founded my own educational institution, where I have been able to help even more students in need.
