Personal Statement

I joined the University of Strathclyde as a Lecturer in 2013 and became Professor in 2018. My office is in the Stenhouse Wing of Strathclyde Business School - room SW323. 

I am the director of Strathclyde University's MSc Investment and Finance and my research interests are Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Banking. I am ranked in the top 10% of Authors on SSRN by all-time downloads and my research is published in peer reviewed journals such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, and the European Journal of Finance among others.  Meanwhile, I have been a visiting lecturer at Cass Business School, ESCP Europe, and SKEMA Business School. Since 2012 my research and external engagements have generated approximately £250,000. Also, I am a member of the Research Panel of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) which has more than 21,000 CAs as members worldwide. In addition, I am an Associate Editor for the European Journal of Finance and have acted as Associate (Guest) Editor for the International Review of Financial Analysis and the Journal of Operational Research Society. Also, I have been a Scientific Committee member for several conferences, I serve as research assessor for the Carnegie Trust and as a regular ad-hoc reviewer for a number of scientific journals. Finally, I am actively engaging with industry in various roles such as consulting and R&D. 

I welcome new PhD proposals to be developed under my supervision in the field of corporate finance.
