I am open to Educational Psychology Research from a range of contexts including, Education, Dynamic Assessment, EdTech, Communities, Sport and Innovation.
Clare joined the University of Strathclyde in August 2018 as a senior teaching fellow on the MSc Educational Psychology Programme. With an extensive background as an Educational Psychologist in a Local Authority setting, she brings over two decades of valuable experience working with children and families across all levels, from nursery provsions to schools, colleges, univeristy and government.
Having served as a link psychologist for social emotional and behavioural needs (SEBN) secondary establishments for 15 years, Clare's expertise and dedication have been intergral to her professional journey. She completed the professional doctorate in educational psychology (DEdPsy) at the University of Strathclyde, focusing her research on the positive psychology of goal-setting, motivation and engagement, in collaboration with the late Professor Steve Danish at Virgnia Commonwealth University. Clare is a Video Interaction Guidance (VIG) practioner and Video Enhanced Reflective Practice (VERP) facilitator. She is certified in Behavioural Analysis, Solution Focused Approaches, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavoural Approaches and Trauma Informed Practice.
Currently holding the position of Director of the DEdPsy programme at Strathclyde, Clare is deeply engaged in the academic and professional development of Educational Psychologists. Her interests span, Dynamic Learning and Assessment, Positive Psychology, Implementation Science, Ed-Tech and Developing Potential through Sports Psychology. Clare is a reviewer for Frontiers Journal and External Examiner on the DEdPsy programme at UCL. Clare has a range of teaching and citizenship roles at both UG and PG level. She is the class lead for 4th year class 'Therory and and Practice of Learning and Cognition'. In addition to her academic pursuits, Clare proudly serves as the HASS faculty ambassador for Strathclyde Inspire, the university;s award-winning entrepreneurial hub. In this role, she actively fosters an innovative environement for students, staff and alumni with innovative ideas. Through Strathclyde Inspire, Clare is creating an Ed-Tech platform "Dynamigo" to identify and nurture learner potential.
With Dr Fraser Lauchlan, Clare has developed an accredited training programme in Dynamic Assessment, approved by the British Psychological Society and has written "Applying Dynamic Assessment in Schools" (Jessica Kingsley Publishers, UK, 2023). https://uk.jkp.com/products/applying-dynamic-assessment-in-schools
