Personal Statement

Charles MacLeod is a Lecturer in the Centre for Ultrasonic Engineering. After being awarded a Masters in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering with Distinction at Strathclyde, Charles then went on to undertake a PhD in Automated Non–Destructive Evaluation.

While undertaking his PhD Charles, was seconded to Spirit AeroSystems, in Prestwick to undertake Knowledge Exchange activities built on fundamental EPSRC funded research. 

Charles was awarded the prestigious University of Strathclyde EPSRC Doctoral Prize for 2014, for his work investigating automated non-contact ultrasound. This work which is currently on-going has great potential in terms of scanning rates and throughput, therefore offering large reduction in overall production cycle time.

Charles has vast experience in electrical and mechanical engineering areas such as robotics, sensors, electronics, mechanical jigs and software.

His research interests include:

Non-Destructive Evaluation

Sensors including Ultrasonic, Electromagnetic, Tactile and Visual

Automation

Metrology

Robotics

Low noise electronics.

 

Charles has delivered impact in the form of dissemination, new revenue, commercialisation and product hardware through a number of high profile KE projects. 

Teaching Activities.

EE312 Instrumentation and Microcontrollers Lectures, Laboratories and Tutorials.

Fingerprint Fingerprint is based on mining the text of the person's scientific documents to create an index of weighted terms, which defines the key subjects of each individual researcher.
