Personal Statement

Yu Zhang (Catherine) is a transdisciplinary researcher whose work explores the philosophical, psychological and sociological dimensions of entrepreneurial well-being. Her doctoral research, Exploring Entrepreneurial Well-Being of the Self and the World, develops a dynamic view of the ontology of EWB, integrating Daoist philosophy, existential inquiry, and psychological theory. Through interpretivist and abductive methodologies, she investigates the lived experiences of transnational entrepreneurs in China, emphasising emotional resilience, cultural hybridity, and values-driven innovation. Her work contributes to a transcultural understanding of entrepreneurship as a lifelong journey of being and becoming at the interplay of self and world, offering new insights into the relational and ethical foundations of sustainable business practice.

Her research interests are Entrepreneurial well-being, Transnational entrepreneurship, China, Female entrepreneurship, and Sustainability.
