I first joined the university in 2015 on a 2-year secondment and have recently (March 2020) returned permanently as a Teaching Fellow in the School of Education. I lead the PGDE Secondary Physical Education course and teach on all aspects of the PGDE course. My main areas of interest are in embedding evidence-based approaches in teaching physical education, specifically models-based practice. Prior to joining the university I was a physical education teacher in Glasgow schools for 15 years. I also held extended principal teacher posts at both curricular and pastoral level.

I am currently in the 'writing up' stage of my PhD. My study is entitled 'Exploring how teachers implement a pedagogy of affect (an activist approach) to teach adolescent girls in physical education'. Using both grounded and activist theories, my work is qualitative in nature and aims to work with participants to challenge conventional narratives. I have further interests in teacher professional learning, innovation in curriculum and pedagogy and gender studies.
