Personal profile

Personal Statement

I joined the Law School in 2004 from Heriot Watt University as a lecturer in commercial law.  I am currently a Professor and was head of the Law School from 2013-2016.  My main teaching and research interests lie in the fields of company law and increasingly in the area of mediation and civil justice.  In respect of the latter, I am most interested in the interaction between mediation and other alternative forms of dispute resolution with the workings of the courts and lawyers.  I try to engage actively in relevant professional fields and my work has a significant impact beyond the boundaries of academia engaging with, and informing policy and practice.
